SERVICES OF MCCSN

Financial Assistance || Transportation || Material Resources

Support Groups || Newsletter || Flowers and Cards || Speakers

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Having cancer often means financial strain on the family.  We at MCCSN realize that when a family member is going through cancer treatment, the strain of the disease is difficult enough without additional financial problems.  In order to qualify for assistance from MCCSN, all that is required is a verifiable cancer diagnosis and a financial need.  The board of directors vote on each request as it comes to our attention.

TRANSPORTATION

MCCSN can provide transportation to cancer treatment centers.   Please call the office for details at 931.393.4443.

LOAN OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, WIGS, RESOURCE LIBRARY BOOKS AND MATERIALS

The office manager is on hand Monday through Friday from 10 AM - 2 PM.  She can loan equipment such as wheel chairs (as available) and wigs for those patients that have lost hair during treatment.  Also available are books, pamphlets, brochures, and tapes covering a wide array of cancer and related subjects.  She can distribute liquid nutritional supplements as needed and can make referrals to those who wish to speak with someone who has had similar experiences.

MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS

Regular meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at Estill Springs Nazarene Church on Hwy 41-A.  The meetings usually consist of a speaker covering a variety of subjects of interest to cancer patients and survivors.   From time to time, a survivor relates his or her personal experiences with cancer.   The meetings end with refreshments and fellowship.

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

MCCSN members and anyone else interested in receiving it, are kept up to date with a monthly newsletter. To be placed on the mailing list, contact the office manager at 931.393.4443 or e-mail at cancernetwork@cafes.net.

FLOWERS AND CARDS

As we obtain information of cancer patients who have been hospitalized, are going through treatment, or otherwise could use a lift, we send flowers and/or cards to let them know we are thinking of them and praying for them.  If you would like to have flowers sent to someone, please contact Willie Duckworth at 931.649.2662.

SPEAKERS BUREAU

MCCSN has several members who will speak to groups about our organization, about cancer through their personal experiences, and about the 24-hour walk-a-thon held each September, the primary fundraiser for MCCSN.  A favorite with many in our area is Miss Martha, a hilarious character who can entertain any group with her knowledge and expertise about life and how to live it.  Miss Martha, alias Jean Kalt, can be contacted at 931.967.9460.
