President Bush's continuing efforts to direct our tax money to religiously affiliated groups.

We could have a Republican directing gov't funds to faith-based groups promoting abstinence, or a Democrat using gov't funds for abortions. (This was included in Kerry's health care plan: that every citizen should have a "right" to health care, including every woman had a "right" to an abortion.)
And likely the Democrat would be spending more...
If you consider this wasteful spending either way, maybe you should support the Libertarian Party.

Abortions would save the taxpayers more money in the long run. Taxpayers wouldn't have to pay for the kids food, education, and medicine, and then in turn their kids food, education and medicine as well. I'm pro choice, what can I say.

Actually, between abstinence (what your article was referring to) and abortions, successful abstinence behavior would save more money because there would still not be the illegitimate kids you were refering to, but also there would be less citizens affected by STD's, and potentially less overall destructive behavior that could be associated in many (but certainly not all) cases of overly promiscuous activity.
Again, if you consider it wasteful spending on the governments part one way or the other, you would be leaning Independent. But we both know that the spending would be there with either one of our 2 major parties.
You say abortions would save the taxpayers money in the long run. That's just it: abortions are legal. Someone can already go get one. But why should they go get one on the taxpayers tab? Especially when the ones that would be doing that for free are likely to be taxed very little if any as it is? You yourself see the abuses in Tenncare.

If you feel that it's a right-of-citizenship/health care issue on abstinence-ed vs. abortion, I'd much rather see the money go straight to VA hospitals/health care. There is absolutely no reason someone serving our country and losing their ability to join the workforce after they return should then have to go to overcrowded, under-funded hospitals with the physicians that are the cream-of-the-crap, too stupid/incompetent for private practice.
But of course, "free" health care, including "free" abortions, appeals to a larger voting demographic (as does faith-based programs).

Your posts haven't stated it directly, but you've repeatedly said that I lean independant. I think that you think I'm democrat because that's how I voted in the last election. I'm independant, however, in large voting issues I have for the last few years leaned democrat when looking for a viable cannidate. See most recent post for the continuation...
