Issues with "The Man" 2005/03/09 5 comments

Frankly, the only issue with the government that I have is it's distance from the average citazen. This isn't necessary the governments fault, it's really my fault. I work 40 hours a week, and when it's all said and done, I have almost no time to endulge in CSPANing. My news intake is slanted more towards world issues, and science / technology.
My point, is that retiries run the political machinery of this country. They have the necessary time and interest to CSPAN, and communicate with Senators and Congressmen. Retiries as a whole, are out of touch with the growing youth, the internet, technology, science, and feel their morals are absolute. They dictate the ways in which these concepts advance.
Their unbudging ethics leave no room for compromise, it's all or nothing. Hollywood has fed us this line of shit our whole lives; this romantic view of "Right always triumps." Which is fun for stories, but the truth is, there is no such thing as Right, or Truth. All the fools throughout history claiming to know these things have all contradicted each other. So if we're left believing their legacy, then nothing is absolute.
Including that statement.

Whether or not you watch C-SPAN or write to your congressman will have little to do with how the government is going to run itself. The two biggest things you could do are:
1.)Give political contributions,
2.)Vote

After a politician is elected, there are going to be few issues where he is going to break the predetermined party lines. If fact the only reasons he would are:

1.)Next time he may not enough political contributions to win re-election.
2.)Next time he may not get enough votes to win re-election.

As far as staying informed, there are alot better ways than CSPAN. Pick a radio host you like, and see if he has his show syndicated in a market with a radio station has streaming audio where you can listen to the show while you surf the net (depending on your routine). Also, listen to NPR in the car, or subscribe to TIME magazine and keep it next to the toliet. (I didn't recomend any good TV shows, since I get the impression you don't watch TV much or else you'd have your fill of C-SPAN.)

It's hard for me to discuss seniors "unbudging ethics" unless you get more specific. Remember, seniors as a demographic will have a range of opinions/agendas, just like any other voting block.

Please elaborate on "unbudging ethics".

All good points, but have no credibillity because they came from one Itchy_Turd. Or do they?
Are your points so obvious, that reguardless of the name you call yourself (or even a lack of name) they are universally understood without some sort of envested authority?
If not, who envested that authority to begin with?
Are there truth's that are self-evident?
