The Leonids meteor shower will occur between November 14th - 20th, peaking on the 17th For those who are interested in viewing this excellent event, I suggest the following: Bring a tarp, lots of blankets and layers of clothes, a pillow, mugs with hot chocolate, and a location, well away from the city and light pollution where you may observe. When I lived in Tullahoma, the Motlow Campus was excellent as it was out of town, and all their lights were turned off. This year I'll be going to my friends farm in Doyle, where electricity and running water are bedtime stories for the kids.

I always forget about the showers until they're long gone. Well, I remembered once a couple years back. At the time, our house wasn't in the city limits, so there were very few street lights, so our back yard was pretty dark. I bundled up in my flannel pjs and big hulking coat and laid outside on a picnic bench for a couple hours. That was a great night.
I did see a really great shooting star a week or so ago. Ever seen those fireworks that are so red they're green (or maybe it's vice versa)? It was sorta that color. It was gorgeous. And yes, I'm such a shmuck, I made a wish. heh
