Virgin Falls 2007/04/14 5 comments

It rained all day today. It thunderstormed. I kept my camera working through most of the trip, but at the final falls (pictures 17 and 18), I had nothing dry left to wipe the fog from my camera lens. Picture 17 is of the chasm that the falls poured into. I couldn't get an angle on it because it was too deep (~250 ft).
It was a great hike. Bennett, Eric, and Stubs went with me.

Those last few pictures actually look like Sheep's Head Falls rather than Virgin Falls. (Sheep's Head Falls is on a loop trail between Big Laurel Falls and Virgin Falls).

That whole area of Scott's Gulf is one of the coolest places ever.

Jealous, I had to work, but you took some cool pics. I really love the red salamander. How neat is that!

Glad to see you made it out of the forest in one piece. Those photographs are gorgeous! I don't think I've ever seen the falls that slow before...which is weird since it was raining. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
