It is immediately obvious to me is that this customer is speaking, almost forced, in an unnaturally deep voice. He would take long pauses, thoughtfully contemplating his next word. His left eye twitched, causing the whole side of his face to wrinkle in response. This tick appeared when he spoke. After the transaction was over, he gave me his ID, as if he didn't understand the transaction had ended and it was time for him to leave. (Note - A lot of customers don't get the closing of the cashier ritual) I handed him his ID back with his medicine and said, "That's all I need, thanks." Raising the pitch of my voice slightly at the end to indicate, "It's over, go away." He apologized, and stated he was "almost retarded." I was surprised by this, a retarded person wouldn't make that comment (at least not in my experience), and beyond that, he didn't seem retarded. In a worst-case-scenario he was only a little socially inept. Not quite sure of what to say, I asked, "Why is that?" "I'm schizophrenic," he said, looking me strait in the eye. "I'm sorry." "Don't be, it's pretty fun sometimes." He smiled, shot me a final glance where his tick almost appeared to be a wink, and walked out.
There are those who aren't reliable. And there are those whose reliability makes up for those who can not be trusted. Which are you?
Lay your eyes on this, my new computer case. Yeah, you like it.
I got this fortune cookie that said "Me love you long time," and it got me thinking... I am going to try to be a better friend for everyone. I will stop being introverted and try to spend more time visiting the people I care about. Or I'll get my computer working again and hole up in CoH.
In light of the last posting. I'll anounce that I intend to take my vacation sometime soon. Very soon... Anyway, any ideas about how I could spend it? I am going to go to Texas to see my dad, and I want to go to Tullahoma to catch up with some friends. Other than that I have two weeks to burn.
I'm drawing a line in the sand for those who wish to confront me. It is at personal insult. I shouldn't have to draw a line, but in the recent weeks at work it has become necessity. The environment at work is different... Whatever is occuring, I cannot allow myself to be a casualty.
I was called a liar today by a customer. He continued, insisting that "The customer is always right." Apparantly the customer is always right, to so much of a degree that they are allowed to make personal insults.
I want to punch his face until my knuckles bleed. If words cannot overcome the ignorance of man, then violence surely will. I mourn for the human race.
Source: http://www.wreg.com/Global/story.asp?S=3340650 A group of mid-south ministers is going to protest planned TennCare cuts. Last month nearly a hundred Memphis area ministers crowded onto a bus and went to Nashville to protest proposed TennCare cuts. That's nice. Apparantly these Jesus-hippies don't understand why Tenncare is getting funding cuts. As if reading the front page of almost every Tennessee newspaper wouldn't tell you in just a few seconds of reading. Let me state it again, for those who are too dense to get it the first 100 times: THE PROGRAM HAS NO MONEY. Who's paying for your health-care bills? I AM! And damnit, your medical coverage is better than mine!
What I really intended to say was, don't protest. If you want to take a copy of the Tennessee budget, re-work it so that your program can stay afloat, and present it to the appropriate Tennessee officials, it can get voted on. Otherwise, you're wasting your time. A protest isn't going to generate money. And while we're at it, TennCare's costs are growing. Word has spread throughout the union that in Tennessee you can get free healthcare. People are moving into Tennessee from Michigan, Colorado, Florida, and other states just to get on TennCare. I cite my job, and personal experience as evidence. You think you can contain those costs? Work that into your proposed budget. Personally, I would rather be able to get into MY state parks free of charge again, and let some people go without medical care. I miss my state parks, doesn't anyone else?
Wow, today was an eventful day! First off, I would like to congratulate the TTU graduating class of '05. I have several friends in the bunch, and I'm so proud of all of you. You have achieved that which I still silently long for. Today I: - Played CoH with a new friend. - Went ot a wedding. - Went to a BBQ. - Gamed a new system with a new group of friends. - Ran into several old friends. - Was invited to three parties. - Went to one of them. - Was the designated driver. It makes up for not having done anything at all Friday.
And for the record, I may be on the lookout for a roommate. Applicants, applicably apply your applications.
