Just a few panoramas taken from overlooks and bridges over Center Hill Lake in DeKalb county, Tennessee. Shadows of the clouds account for the weird choppy colors on the lake.

Indian Grave Point Cave 4 comments

Indian Grave Point Cave is a fairly popular private cave in DeKalb county. There is a little bit of vandalism (spray paint, and cave formation theft), but I was pleased with the quality, scenery and exercise. There's plenty of bounder climbing involved, but nothing that requires gear and there's a good deal of mud to slog through (see pictures 27 and 30). Looking around the internet it seems that I missed a few of the more spectacular sites in the cave, this may warrant another visit.

Love 2007/06/04 0 comments
I decided about a year ago that I was an atheist, not to deny the possibility of a God, or afterlife. But to deny the possibility for me to ever know while here. It was my means of providing closure on the unknown. I just had to say, "I can't know."

But if left me with another question: What about love? Clinically, love is nothing more than a chemical reaction in your brain that alters your attitude towards a given person or group.

But if that's the case, then love can't be forever. And if that's the case then love isn't absolute, love isn't the greatest reason.

Now, I can make plenty of great arguments that mankind is fine without God. But I cannot argue, and will not argue that mankind is fine without love.

Without invoking my personal heartbreaks, where does this leave me? I can only say love is mankind's most noble attribute.

To say that there is a love that transcends time and space would be to leave open the possibility of an evil that does the same. But I certainly don't believe in evil like that. If I did, I might as well re-open my religious investigations.

If you read this, understand it, and appreciate it then so much the better: I'm not alone.

Evin's Mill is a Bed and Breakfast located in Smithville, TN. Behind the inn there is a scenic trail that leads down to some waterfalls. It's a relatively short hike with a 200ft elevation change. Their web site is located at www.EvinsMill.com.
