| Holy Baptism Holy Baptism is Baptism with water,
in the Name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Since Christ
has commanded to "Baptize all nations" (Matthew 28:18-20), Baptism is to be
administered to any person regardless of age (thus including infants), color, race. etc.

Jesus said, "Whoever believes
and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark
16:16).
The Sacrament of Holy
Baptism
Holy Baptism is
administered by the called Pastor of the church, but in cases of emergency and in the
absence of a pastor, any Christian should baptize.
Any person may
be baptized with water, in the Name of the Triune God, provided that:
1. Said
person has never been baptized. To baptize a person "again" would imply
that God's original promise made in Baptism was "invalid." Also Christians
entering the Lutheran Church from other Christian denominations who have been baptized
with water in the Name of the Triune God, will not be "rebaptized."
2. There
is no sure confidence of Baptism ever being performed; no recollection of record of
Baptism ever happening. The point here is that each person needs the assurance that
they have, in fact, been baptized.
Little children
should be baptized when they are brought to Baptism by those who have authority over them.
Those who can receive instruction are to be baptized after they have been
instructed in the principal teachings of the Christian Church.
Sponsors
Sponsors or
Godparents should be secured for the Baptism of infants or small children in order to:
1. Testify
that children have been properly baptized.
2. Assist
in caring for the Christian education and training of ther Godchildren, especially if the
children should lose their parents.
3. Pray
for them!
Since Baptism
is God's gift to His body, the Church, Baptism should normally take place during a worship
service of the Christian fellowship of believers. |
