| Faith Lutheran believes... We
believe the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God.
We believe in one God, in three persons: the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ, conceived by the
Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, is true God and true man.
We believe that all people are by nature sinful
and unclean and have sinned against God by thought, word, and deed.
We believe that we cannot save ourselves.
We believe that God, in His love and mercy, gave
His only Son, Jesus Christ, as the Savior of all mankind.
We believe that Jesus Christ, though His death
on the cross and His bodily resurrection from the dead, is mans only sure way of
salvation.
We believe that the Holy Spirit calls people to
repent of their sins and seek forgiveness.
We believe that every person who, by faith,
believes in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, receives forgiveness and has eternal life.
We believe that Jesus Christ will visibly return
to judge the living and the dead.
We believe that on the Last Day God will raise
all the dead, and will give to all believers in Christ - ETERNAL LIFE
Who We are...
Lutherans are Christians and represent the largest Protestant
group in the world.
Lutherans take their name from Martin Luther. Luther was a German
priest who broke away from the Roman Catholic Church in the early 1500s. Luther's writings
and teachings sparked what would become known as: "The Protestant Reformation."
Luther taught that people - no matter how hard they try - cannot earn
God's forgiveness or a place in heaven. It is a gift that people receive
through faith in Jesus Christ.
Lutherans often refer to three "solas" (Latin for
"alone") as a summary of their faith:
Grace alone - "For it is
by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift
of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
