Nazarene Youth International

Curt Curry
NYI President

Greetings from the Shelbyville First church of the Nazarene Youth Group. Our NYI(Nazarene Youth International) group meets on Wednesday night in the church's gymnasium. We are a strong and growing group made up of some of the most open, compassionate, and fun-loving teens around.

Our Wednesday Night meetings involve prayer, scripture devotionals, skits, videos, topic debates, and real life problem / burden sharing. We also like to play alot, (usually basketball and volleyball, but sometimes we play other group games), so dress is casual.

During the year we are involved in many local activities as well as district functions. Some local activities include lock-ins, Youth retreats, bowling and laser tag, park picnics, and many other trips. District Events include sports and talent festivals, Fire on the Mountain, Impact team, and, of course, summer camp.

Headed by Amy Gunn, many of the teens are involved in Puppet Ministry. This has become a very powerful minstry especially to the young children. They perform for other churches and organizations, senior citizens, and recently to a group of foster children.

Mentioned above, the Impact Team is another powerful ministry. Teens from across the district perform a musical drama each month from church to church across the district. It usually packs the church and gets a great response. It is a fantastic way not only to minister to others, but also to meet lasting friends across the district.
