History

Church History Himesville Church of the Nazarene was the result of a tent revival held in August of 1910 by evangelist Rev. Lige Weaver and gospel singer J.T. Grissom. The church was organized on October 12, 1911 by Weaver, who became the pastor from then until September 1915. The original piece of land was deeded to the
church by Mr. and
Mrs. Dennis B. Phillips..."for and in consideration of the love we have for the
Nazarene Church"...on January 22, 1912. The original church house was
completed and dedicated to God on May 5th of that year. In the spring and summer of 1969 an education wing was added to the sanctuary. In June of 1972, property was purchased adjacent to the church for a new parsonage. The new parsonage was occupied in April of 1975. In October of 1978, at a special called church meeting the congregation voted to build a fellowship hall which was in use by late spring of 1979. In 2004, the church members were praying for the opportunity to acquire adjacent land to square off the property and provide room for future growth and expansion. The owners of the adjacent property, David and Nina Gay Segroves, donated the section of land behind the fellowship hall allowing the property to be squared off as it exists today.
