Henry Carter Haynes was the ninth child born to James Edward Haynes and Sallie E.
Anderson. He was born on August 03, 1891 (one family record shows the year as 1890) in
Bedford County, Tennessee.

Henry Carter Haynes and Virginia (Jennie) Elizabeth Russell obtained a license for marriage
in Bedford County, Tennessee on December 21, 1910. They were married on December
22, 1910 by T. J. Stricklin, Pastor of M. E. Church. Virginia Elizabeth Russell was the
daughter of Thomas Allen Russell and Melvina Claxton Russell. She was born April 01,
1894 in Bedford County, Tennessee.

Carter and Jennie lived in Cannon County, Tennessee at one point during their marriage.
While they were there, Jennie lost one child. She was tending their garden when she tripped
and fell which caused her to lose this child. This baby was buried in Cannon County. The
only other child born to Carter and Jennie was:

Charles Winford Haynes April 04, 1915- January 08, 2000

When Carter was about 26 years old, he came down with tuberculosis. During the time that
Carter was so ill, he moved in with his father, Jim Haynes so he could help take care of him.
Carter died January 15, 1917 and is buried in the Haynes Family Cemetery on Shores Road,
Rutherford County, Tennessee. The cemetery is grown up; however the old field stones are
still in place. There is no marker indicating which grave belongs to Carter.

Jennie remarried on March 04, 1921 to Robert Thomas Adcock who had lost his wife, Janie
Maude Harrison Adcock in 1919. Mr. Adcock had two children from this marriage. Their
children were:

From the union of Jennie and Robert, four children were born:

Robert Allen Adcock
Oreon Milton Adcock
Mary Lou Adcock
Melvin Claxton Adcock

Jennie died on September 01, 1972 in Bedford County, Tennessee and is buried in the
Pressgrove Cemetery-Bedford County, Tennessee (Longview) beside her second husband,
Robert Thomas Adcock.
