The Beesley Church Cemetery
Rutherford County, Tennessee
The Beesley Church (formerly Overall Primitive Baptist Church) was founded on August 08, 1805. Elders
James Whitsett and John Beesley officiated the service with John Beesley being chosen as the first pastor. The
land the church was built on was given by Solomon Beesley, son of Elder John Beesley.

During the Civil War, the building, with very few others stood through the years of fighting and destruction, while
others burned to the ground. At one time its walls funished headquarters for Union officers but not so much as a
Bible or hymn book were touched.

Below are some photos taken at Beesley Church Cemetery in August 2001. Included is the church building and
some markers of my ancestors.
