Welcome to Leo's web page on the RV-6 aircraft! If you are new to the RV series of aircraft or to experimental aircraft I suggest you visit Van's Aircraft or the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). This site is basically a repository of personal information that can be shared with fellow builders - in the spirit of RV building. It also documents my construction milestones, mostly for friends and geographically distant family.

Drawings

Zipped AutoCAD 2000 drawing of several panels available for download. The drawing includes a Bill of Material (BOM), component prices, and vendor sources. Main dimensions and panel stiffeners/reinforcements are also shown. The component list with prices is also available as a MS Excel spreadsheet. If you would rather see screen images of some of the panels, one has King avionics & rocker switches, another has Appollo avionics and toggle switches. Both show Vans engine instruments. A third panel also has King avionics, but with the EIS engine monitor. Hidden lines, dimensions, notes, etc. have been removed from the screen images.

Ted French's Instrument Panel AutoCAD Drawing

Zipped AutoCAD R14 instrument panel as drawn by Ted French for his RV-6A. A straightforward VFR panel. Includes a Grand Rapids Technologies engine monitor, comm radio, transponder, NavAid Devices wing leveler, RMI microEncoder, strobe system, and electric flaps.

AutoCAD R14 drawing of the 2.25" analog instruments available from Vans Aircraft. The values shown on the fuel pressure gage are for carburetor fuel systems. The gage for fuel injection systems (not drawn) requires different pressure values.

AutoCAD 2000 self-extracting drawing of the NACA 230 series 13.5% thick wing profile. The profile coordinates are from Vans drawing number 11. Template border lines are also shown. Suitable for plotting full size to cut a jigging template.

TIF scans of S-Tec roll servo (340K) and pitch servo (353K) RV-6 installation drawings. Will display in browser with QuickTime viewer.

Zipped AutoCAD R14 wiring diagram as drawn by Gary VanRemortel for his RV-6A. Extremely well drawn and suitable for any RV or other amateur-built aircraft. Shows wiring of elevator and aileron trim servos, strobe and landing lights, flight instruments, avionics, ignition, CHT, EGT, etc. A very complete electrical schematic.

If you need any files in an earlier release of AutoCAD or another vector format send me an e-mail request. Note that these are works in progress or information from other sources - please verify drawing accuracy prior to use.

Don't have access to AutoCAD? Download a copy of Volo View Express from the AutoCAD website. The viewer is free and it will permit printing. Each instrument can be printed full size and a panel layout performed by hand. Expect a long download - the viewer file size is about 24 Meg.

Download a copy of IntelliCAD from the IntelliCAD CMS website. The software is free and it uses native AutoCAD DWG files. Download size is about 14 Meg.
