Configure Your Dial-Up Networking
Dial-Up Networking (DUN) is the program your computer uses to connect to the internet.
It causes your modem to dial and connect to our services.
Dial-Up Networking is a feature found in Windows (9x, Me, 2000, XP). This will walk you through setting up the profile correctly.
You may also use this as a reference for a current DUN profile that is already created.
- Double-click on My Computer.
- Double-click on Dial-Up Networking.
- Double-click on Make New Connection.
- Change "My Connection" to "Computer Cafe"
- Make sure the correct modem is selected (default is normally the correct modem).
- Click Next.
- Type in the correct phone number for your location (area codes will not be necessary).
- Click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the setup.
- Right-click on your Computer Cafe icon.
- Select Properties.
- In the General tab, make sure "Use Dialing Properties" is not checked.
- Select the Server Types tab.
- Under "Type of Dial-Up Server," make sure PPP is selected.
- All Advanced Options should be unchecked.
- Under Allowed Network Protocols, only TCP/IP needs to be enabled.
- Click on the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Make sure "Server Assigned IP Address" and "Server Assigned Name Server Address" are selected.
- Make sure "Use IP Header Compression" and "Use Default Gateway on Remote Network" are also selected.
- Click Ok.
- Click Ok once more. Your Dial-Up Networking is now set up correctly.
