Sauces


Barbeque Sauce

2 T. brown sugar
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. mustard
4 T. ketchup
2 T. butter
1 T. water
2 T. Worcestershire sauce

Combine: if using on pork omit butter.

Barbecue Sauce

2 c. cider vinegar
4 T. salt
1 c. cooking oil
1/2 bottle hot tobasco sauce
3 T. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Combine in a saucepan. Heat enough to melt the salt. With a pastry brush, apply to chicken as you are grilling.

Bettie’s B-B-Q Sauce

1/3 c. ketchup
1/4 c. vinegar
1/2 bottle Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. prepared mustard
2 T. garlic powder
4 dashes Tobasco
2 dashes salt
4 dashes pepper
1 stick margarine
1/4 c. packed brown sugar

Heat while combining. Store in refrigerator and heat before each use. Use on any meat.

White Barbeque Sauce

6 T. mayonnaise
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. sugar (or 1 packet Sweet’n Low)
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. lemon juice

Mix all ingredients together. Great for grilled chicken or pork chops. Also good in the oven.

Hot Dog Sauce

1 lb. hamburger
1/2 of 14 oz. bottle of ketchup
3 T. mustard
1 tsp. salt
2 T. bacon drippings
1 c. onion, chopped fine
chili powder to taste

Brown hamburger and add remaining ingredients. Cook on low heat until thick.

Mama’s Hot Dog Sauce

1 lb. hamburger
1 sm. bottle ketchup
1 onion chopped
1 T. mustard

Crumble hamburger in water to more than cover. Pour in ketchup, onion mustard and season with chili powder and salt to taste. Bring to boil and simmer 1 hour till thick.
