The Rain Came:
It is Tuesday morning and my rain gauge records two inches—Thank you, Lord.
It makes for a good week regardless of what else that happens. It also
washes the air clean of pollen and pollution. You may have noticed I was
suffering from something respiratory Sunday morning and it got worse as the
day went on. We had a good crowd on hand Sunday with 358, an exceptional 300
in Sunday School and 235 Sunday evening. Last week ended our Wednesday Night
Summer Series. It was a great success with good speakers and attendance.
This Wednesday we will resume a choice of adult classes. I will teach a
class on the Parables of Jesus and there will be a
Ladies Class. I don’t know if there will be another offered.
Monday is the first day of September and it is Labor Day. For those who are
new, each year Elaine and I host a Labor Day picnic with pit Bar-B-Que.
Everyone from church is invited. It begins at 4:30 PM. With UT’s first
football game beginning at 7 PM, we will begin eating as close to 4:30 as
possible. Please bring whatever goes with pit BBQ (buns, baked beans, potato
salad, slaw, drinks, deserts). Our address is 1057 Paynes Church Rd. Go
north on 127, turn left on Paynes Church, proceed 1.5 miles. Our drive is on
the right. If you want to help pull meat, etc.; come around 3:30 or shortly
after. You can drive to the house, drop off your food and then park out
front or to the side. I have sprayed for “chicks and tigers”, so hopefully
they won’t be a problem.
